On 12-july-2008, Paul Bagshaw [France Telecom Orange Labs] has announced on Voice Browser Working Group, Public mailing list, "To assist in the wider use of this W3C recommendation, France Telecom Orange Labs has released an implementation of PLS 1.0 under the Gnu General Public License version 3. "

The implementation is in perl.
If you want to try it out, here is the link to download page.
My Personal thought : I have started the OpenPLS however very much frankly, i was not able to contribute much to OpenPLS (which is hosted at www.sourceforge.net/projects/openpls) due to time crunch !
Its really good to have this implementation as opensourced. I would love to see PLS as standard. Kudo's to folks at France Telcom Orange Labs.

i was just checking is there any way to know www.mykavita.com is down or not, i really dont want downtime, but many times, it occurs due to poor hosing or some other critical reason.
I ask few people, Kunal Sheth about any solution and i try to search google, I got one sponsored link on right side, Its link of http://pingability.com/
I think, let me check.... and when i checked the site, guess....Voila.......!!!! "500 Internal Server Error"
Dont you think Its very funny :) ? With whom they have registered to get notified ? :0

Security , Cleartext password and more --- india's leading matrimonial website !
Hi All,
To all readers who may think this is speech related blogpost, please regret !
Again i cant stop writing this post, and I come to know like this way !
I just came from office and was doing some stuff around www.mykavita.com And some regular E-mail check, learning J2ME, little bit python... Enough Computer.... Let me search my life partner !
So i logged in to india's one of the famous matrimonial portal, browse few profile, and do some search ! After some time, i think Let me see this Chat feature...i just click "ChatOnline" button !

What we are upto !
Few readers ping us not much "On-Topic" blogpost related to Voip/VoiceXml/IVR etc ???
Let me explain a bit
MyKavita
Some of you already knowing, in January we launched http://www.Mykavita.com [Kavita means poem] a website based on wordpress where people can write their poem. This was interesting idea on my mind. Its going better than expected !. Our host asked to increase RAM/cpu for the server !. There are some more plan ahead, and some competitor also of the site ! Yeah !

Additional to that, some of indian friends, barcampers and MoMo people knowing about the project just kickstarted ! Mobile 4 Mumbai http://m4mum.com ! Its basically some useful utility that can help normal people (this application is having indian context)

PLS is related to Speech Technology ! Its Java (Yeah dont panic !) based opensource implementation (LGPL License) we are developing. You must be guessing you have read somewhere on www-voice@w3.org , Yes you are correct Dirk www.jvoicexml.org has announced the project.
For openpls we are into requirenment gathering stage for implementation. if you are geek who want to design and code from scratch, drop a note to me or dirk ! You can be part of openpls.

BarCampMU3
If you were unable to come at BarCampMU3 here is short takeout -

This barcampMU3 was very much interesting, It was first scheduled in Sep 2007, but got postponed.
Finally on --March 9-- Correction March 8 2008,it goes rocking !!!
summary:
1. No. of total participants : 70
2. student of Somaiya college sion + other college - 15%
3. First time campers -- 15%
Demo
1. One laptop per child ! by Amit Gogna (www.laptop.org)
This was the most interesting demo by Amit Gogna, a small 1kg laptop for kid, who can do everything you imagine, browsing, paint, inbuilt camera/recording, Mashnetwork(i.e. can detect automattically the nearest peer using mash !)
-running on Sugar os, stuff developed with Python GTK.
-can simulate the "child laptop" on your regular laptop/desktop using simulator.
I personally took few photographs using the laptop, will post later :)
The actual laptop device was shown, and many campers have really try the laptop by spending 5-10 minutes or even more ! :)
Few campers asked interesting query, about technical specification,localization, any implementation and more.
Tech Specification and more :
AMD 433 Mhz, 256 MB RAM, "Not for Money/ Not for sell" but approx cost in US 188USD, (in india approx 240 USD)
Yes, there is one implementation, Khairat (Karjat) a small village of 200 people, a single school, single teacher and approx 22 kids.
If you think you want to contribute to the project feel free to get in touch with Amit Gogna.
2. Demo Vakow (interesting concepts, the product made by Two folks, RG and Amitu)
as per RG Vakow is build on the fact, people like SMS forwarding. It is SMS management system, you can Tag sms, subscribe to particular tag, and lot more customized way to subscribe and post.vakow has integrated stuff with Orkut and Facebook so can share SMS with orkut, facebook friend easily on E-mail, Web or Phone. Users have full flexibility and control. !
The most intersting part, Full Vakow.com is developed and operated by only two folks ! They are looking for few more LAMP(python) folks ! checkout more details at www.Vakow.com

It was interesting advocacy+discussion about opensource, It is interesting, interactive, even people enjoyed it, but counted as "common topic and never ending discussion".
2. The role of the community in open source development (by Renaud Richardet)This is second most interesting stuff after OLPC, Renaud is active contributor to few top-level projects in Apache. It is about Opensource but not regular discussion ! Its about community buildup, measurement of is community active ? and how to get started for opensource stuff.
Renaud explain his personal experience and cast study, how he has started to participate in Opensource project, Analogies of Comany and Projects and more,

3. Gaurav Shah
Gaurav turned up with Non-IT ideas (and someone is executing that also)
First one was Solar power, the most interesting he has put comparision, CBA and Payback time for Solar panel for street light.
Even Non-IT, folks has put intersting discussion.
The next is also by Gaurav, its about project Moksh (not about Moksh Juneja, popular blogar)! Funny but serious and intersting.
This discussion was also non-IT but solving reallife problem of people. The idea is simple, as Shaadi and Marriage stuff are doing lot of business from "Clothes","Catering services", "Musical party" and more event management stuff, they are (not clear Gauav or someone else !) doing "Event management when some people die". They help people in all legal fromalities, insurance formalities, Pooja - Antim Sanskar and other religious formalities, they are having team of "Expert Pundit" also !!!
In metrocity, many times it is very difficult for relatives and friend can provide enough time to this type of stuff.The important point gaurav has made is during this time, family need support of their family members. Their Family member don't want the leading person of family doing all these formalities instead of providing moral support, their team will take care of formalities,legal stuff and reduce the burden. He also explain it is not online stuff, It is not easy for normal people to cope with all these formalities. Everyone was 'seriously laughing' but gaurav has put this intersting Idea Sharing.
Finally --
Planners of the barcamp MU3 has putup thanks to all those who contribute to MU3, mainly their college staff, admin staff, faculties, principal Mr. Prasad, and thanks to Sun Startup Essentials for Sponsoring the event,and to all the campers !
I would say really i found Interesting stuff in this barcamp, Even no T-shirt, no CAPE,No Startup Talk, Mumbai Janta turnedup with real "Spirit of BarCamp". The stuff was entirely planned by students namely Saumil Parekh, Maulik Shah (both co-founder cafeinfotech and student) and Kunal Panchal. Would say big thanks to planner, keep organizing good stuff in future also !

On the way Read "VCC" Voice Controlled Circuit....but just rushing for BarCamp ! Now posting this from Arpit Agrawal's Laptop !

As you may be knowing i am now off the road from Voice and Speech Stuff***
Ok, Just appeared update from W3C Voice Browser Working Group VBVG about what the works they are coming up in Next few month, kind of Roadmap and Work in Progress stuff.

drop a line if you want to know more about the project, its based on voice outbound dialing. If you want to have your Text To Speech,ASR, VoiceXml Engine used for large user base and noble cause.
